Each quarter, the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Safety Circle awards the Safety Star, which recognizes departments or individuals that have either the most improved safety record or have made a difference in patient and employee safety. This quarter, the award was given to the hospital’s 6NW unit because they had the most improved safety record from 2016 to 2017.
Attracting and retaining the best talent is crucial to the future of Guthrie. The success of the expansion and evolution of Guthrie will depend on its people playing an active role. It’s in our hands to sustain the core values of patient-centeredness, teamwork and excellence – these can only continue to be upheld if everyone lives and breathes them.
Guthrie’s refreshed tobacco policy is now in effect at all Guthrie locations. This policy is part of a renewed effort to create a healthier environment for patients, visitors, employees and the communities that we serve. It also aids in Guthrie’s goal to be an employer of choice to attract and retain top talent in order to provide excellent patient care.
Guthrie is asking patients, employees, and the Twin Tiers community to nominate Guthrie providers for the Donald Guthrie Distinguished Provider Award. This award recognizes providers who have gone above and beyond to provide outstanding service that has made a meaningful difference to the patients we care for.
Any Guthrie provider can be nominated. Nominations need to include the name of the provider as well as information on how that provider made an impact on your, or a loved one’s, life. Nominations may be made anonymously and do not have a required word limit.

We would like to remind staff to remove their hospital issued scrubs before leaving the building. Wearing scrubs outside of their appropriate, controlled and clean environment carries a great risk of cross-contamination. Scrubs worn or taken outside of the facility have the potential to become contaminated by things like pollen or dirt, and there is a risk of that contamination coming back into sterile environments. Even washing your scrubs at home could poses a risk, so they should always be laundered by our professional services.
The repair and resurfacing of the Thomas Ave. Hangar Lot has been rescheduled. The asphalt portion of the lot will be closed off beginning July 25 through August 1.
