A luncheon was held at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital on Thursday, Dec. 1 to honor the 22 years of service provided by Mike Coyle, Facilities Supervisor. Mike was an important part of our transition to the new facility and helped us to maintain the old facility for so many years. Mike is retiring and has relocated to Spencer, NY. Congratulations to Mike on his retirement!
Times have changed as has the hospital location, but the purpose of the Guthrie Troy Community Hospital Auxiliary remains the same after 60 years: to assist the Troy Community Hospital in any way possible. They recently celebrated this milestone anniversary with a special membership luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 27. Special effort was made to include the many people who served as presidents over the first 60 years of the Troy Community Hospital Auxiliary. There were 40 guests in attendance at the luncheon, including several past auxiliary presidents.
The Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation (PTSF) has granted Guthrie Troy Community Hospital a Level IV Trauma Center Accreditation, making it the only Critical Access Hospital in Pennsylvania to achieve this accreditation. The accreditation goes into effect on Nov. 1. Congratulations to all involved!
In today’s digital age, Guthrie’s Information Services team helps keep us wired and connected, as well as making sure our data stays safe and secure. Please join Guthrie in celebrating this incredibly important “support” team during National Health IT Week, which runs from September 26-Sept. 30. Without their support, we would not be able to deliver our services across the region.

Each year, the Auxiliary at Guthrie Troy Community Hospital awards a scholarship to a senior from Canton High School and a senior from Troy High School. The winners are students in the upper one-third of their graduating classes, and they must also be active in community activities. Their college plans must include a course of study in the medical field at an accredited college or university. This year’s recipients were Elena Breese of Troy and Lacey Castle of Canton.
