On August 31, Dr. Philip Lowry, Guthrie Hematology, Medical Oncology presented “Blood Cancer Treatment Updates” at the annual Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Patient Education program in Sayre. The goal of the program was to provide information to patients and their caregivers on recent advances and treatment for blood cancers.

The Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Auxiliary invites you to participate in this year's Employee Holiday Craft Show where you can sell your handmade crafts and artwork and showcase your unique talents. A new session of Weight Watchers Beyond the Scale/Smart Points will run on Thursdays from Sept. 21 to Nov. 30 (10 sessions) in the Patterson Building, Nursing Lecture Room at the Guthrie Sayre campus. Meetings will be at 5:15 p.m. At least 15 Members are needed for the group to become a reality. Cost is $125 prepaid per person (Visa, Master Card, Cash or Check). Weekly weigh in and meeting will take about 30 minutes of your time. We kindly request that you register in advance to ensure materials are available for all members.

Med Supply Depot has successfully passed both physical inspections and documentation audits and is now fully accredited to provide non-invasive ventilation services along with the other lines of respiratory services which include oxygen, CPAPS, BiPAPs, AVAPS and apnea monitors.

On August 21st, with most of the nation following the eclipse, Danika Lisi decided to offer lemonade to thirsty eclipse-watchers. Danika, of Painted Post, set up a lemonade stand in her community and donated the proceeds to Guthrie Corning Hospital’s Cancer Center Fund, in honor of her father, a cancer survivor. Danika’s father also recently donated to the Cancer Center Fund during the annual Relay for Life. Our thanks to the Lisi family for their thoughtfulness and generosity.

At Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, as part of our quarterly values celebration, we honor a star performer with an Employee of the Quarter award. The winner receives a plaque, a silver star, and a designated parking space for 90 days. Congratulations to recent graduates of the Radiology Technology Program at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. The program is a full-time, two-year Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program. It is a collaborative program with Mansfield University’s Department of Health Sciences. Students spend the first semester on the University campus in Mansfield, Pa., and the remaining three semesters plus two summer sessions at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital where they complete classroom and clinical experience.

This means that searching for and applying for jobs is now streamlined to work easily from a smart phone or tablet. To view the careers page from a mobile device, visit www.Guthrie.org in your mobile browser and select “EMPLOYEE LOGIN” at the bottom of the page. Then sign in to PeopleSoft and select the “Careers” tile.

The 2017 Guthrie Gala presented by Elderwood will be held on Saturday, Sept. 9. A Guthrie Gala group is now available on Workplace for those who want to follow along during the event including photos and a Workplace Live video at the start of the event. Attendees are encouraged to share photos from the evening in the group, and the photo booth photos will be shared there following the event. Whether you are among those attending or just want to take a peek at the fun, be sure to check out the group.
