Guthrie’s Community Benefit Grant Program awarded $10,000 to South Waverly Borough in support of the construction of an accessible playground in the borough.
The borough will use the funds to support construction efforts for its first ADA accessible playground. The project aims to provide a space for children and adults to be active and exercise. Future plans also include walking trails and pedestrian and bicycle connections.
If you are looking to make healthier food choices in the new year, the cafeterias at each Guthrie hospital will offer a new way for you to start your week off right. Motivation Mondays will feature extra special healthy choices in addition to healthy options available every day of the week. On Mondays, the deep fryers will remain off, and healthy alternative choices will be available to replace foods that are typically fried. Foods such as chicken and fish sandwiches, french fries, and breakfast potatoes will be baked on Mondays instead of fried.
Start your journey to a new year, new you! A new session of Weight Watchers Freestyle/Smart Points will run on Thursdays from January 11 to March 15, 2018 (10 sessions) in the Patterson Building, Nursing Lecture Room at the Guthrie Sayre Campus. Meetings will be at 5:15 p.m. At least 15 Members are needed for the group to become a reality.
Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital recently held a Christmas door decorating contest for employees to show their holiday spirit. The first and second place winners won a pizza party for their department.

Guthrie Hospice is pleased to offer a Winter Community Bereavement Support Group beginning Monday, Feb. 5 and continuing through March 12, 2018. Sessions will run from 4 - 4:30 p.m. in the conference room at Guthrie Hospice, 421 Tomahawk Road, Towanda, Pa., 18850.
