Guthrie Corning Hospital presented its quarterly Prism Award to Megan Shaddock, RN, 2 East Cancer Treatment Center. This award is given to an employee who embodies Guthrie’s core values including pride, respect, integrity and service to our patients, their families and co-workers. Megan was nominated by a grateful patient.

RPH Nursing leaders and Mansfield University faculty came together recently to honor the MU nursing students at the annual RPH/MU Scholarship Dinner. Over $110,000 was awarded to Mansfield University/Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital nursing students. Congratulations to all who were honored!

The Mansfield University/Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital School of Radiologic Technology celebrated National Radiology Technology Week outside the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Cafeteria this week. Thank you to everyone who stopped by to help celebrate. Congratulations to Madeline Jenkins who won the prize for guessing the number closest to the total lollipops in the enema bag without going over. There were 192 lollipops in the bag and Madeline guessed 183.

Guthrie has received a donation of $1,510.67 to the Breast Care Fund from Pivot Fitness in Athens, Pa. This group raised the funds through a series of fundraisers during October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Thank you to Pivot Fitness for its generosity!

Join us for a Guthrie holiday tradition. The annual Breakfast with Santa will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8 from 8 - 10:30 a.m. in the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Cafeteria.

Tickets include breakfast and one free photo with Santa. Children's photos with Santa are provided by Smith Photography. Other photo packages will be available for purchase.

Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is currently taking orders for its annual Wreath Sale. Wreaths are all local, from Snyders in Gillett, Pa., and made fresh before delivery. Each wreath comes with a festive handmade red bow, but other bow colors are available upon request. There are two sizes and three types of evergreen available for order.

All staff must receive flu shots by Dec. 1. Guthrie believes that our patients have the right to assume that health care personnel will take all reasonable measures to reduce and avoid transmission of preventable diseases, including influenza. Therefore, all employees, medical staff members, students and volunteers must have seasonal influenza vaccine.
