The Nurse-Family Partnership (NFP) at Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital recently hosted a “Mommy and Me” essay contest for all of the program’s current participants. The contestants were asked to write about their experiences as first-time mothers enrolled in the Nurse-Family Partnership program. Entries were judged by the Community Advisory Board of NFP as well as Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital Administration. The winner, selected from ten entries was Chelsea Wahlig of Athens, Pa. Chelsea will receive a photo session at her home donated by Lisa Howeler.
Congratulations to Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Emergency Department nurses, Tasha Tambeau and Kathy Crockett, who recently obtained their Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN). Both completed an extensive examination given by the Board of Certification for Emergency Nursing to receive the certificate.

Guthrie Corning Hospital has received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines®-Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award with Target: StrokeSM Honor Roll Elite. This is the sixth time the hospital has received this award, and is an outstanding achievement.
A portion of the proceeds at the upcoming Mo Songs for Kerry will support Sayre House of Hope. Other proceeds will fund cancer research. The event will also raise awareness of Li Fraumeni Syndrome. The fundraiser will be held Saturday, July 16 at the South Waverly Borough Park in South Waverly, Pa. The day’s events begin at 10 a.m. and include a music festival, a craft show, carnival games for kids, BBQ lunch, a charity antique auction and an antiques flea market.
