The Guthrie Cardiac and Vascular Center is offering the Advances & Innovations in Cardiovascular Care symposium on Saturday, Feb. 17. This activity is approved for up to 5.75 AMA PRA Category I Credits.
This full-day conference for primary care providers and cardiologists will focus on practice guidelines and breakthroughs for cardiovascular diseases that are most relevant to the entire medical community: risk assessment, hyperlipidernias, hypertention, anti-platelet and anticoagulant therapy.
The IRS generally updates the Business Mileage Rate effective January 1 of each year. The IRS has announced that the standard mileage rate for business related travel effective Jan. 1, 2018 will increase to 54.5 cents per mile. Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital implemented the PeopleSoft Human Resources and Payroll system beginning on Dec. 18. This is an exciting step in the process to integrate Guthrie Towanda Memorial Hospital with the larger Guthrie system.
One of the best ways to welcome 2018 is to create healthy lifestyle habits together. The Guthrie Wellness Committee invites employees to participate in a wellness challenge this January. This month's challenge is to eat at least one meal with your family, friends and/or coworkers each week. The holiday season is a time to reflect and give thanks. We are excited to announce that Guthrie has partnered with the River Valley Regional YMCA. A free two week trial is now available for all employees and families from Nov. 27 – Dec. 11, 2017. To use this free trial, present your Guthrie ID badge at any of the five River Valley Regional YMCA branches: Williamsport, East Lycoming, Jersey Shore, Tioga and Towanda. If at least 20 Guthrie employees sign up for a membership, everyone’s rates get reduced with 10% off.
Guthrie Organizational Development is offering an eight-week course on Basic Medical Terminology where participants will learn 350 Greek and Latin medical word parts that can help with deciphering thousands of complex medical terminologies. The course will take place on eight Fridays from Oct. 20 - Dec. 15 (no class on Nov. 24) in Classroom C of the Patterson Building on the Guthrie Sayre campus. Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
