Guthrie is pleased to announce James Scott, MD, FACOG as System Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology (Ob/Gyn). Dr. Scott will oversee Ob/Gyn services at all Guthrie locations. Dr. Scott has served as Section Chief of Ob/Gyn in the Western Region and Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology for Guthrie Corning Hospital for the last two years. Congratulations to Dr. Scott!
Guthrie has published its most recent community health needs assessments and implementation plans for the communities served by the system’s four hospitals in Corning, Sayre, Towanda and Troy.
Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, non-profit hospitals are required to complete a community health needs assessment every three years. These assessments include information on local demographics, insurance coverage, and key health challenges.
Guthrie's Primary Care Joint Application Design committee held its first regular meeting on June 15. This group of providers and clinic office staff are committed to meeting regularly with EPIC analysts to focus on improving the quality of care for our patients, as well as improving usability of the electronic health record for our Primary Care clinics. This group is an integral part of Guthrie's ongoing Population Health initiatives.
We are pleased to welcome Karin Witt, MD as Chief Medical Officer/Regional Medical Director – Western Region. Dr. Witt is also an Associate in OB/GYN and will be seeing patients at Guthrie Corning Steuben. Dr. Witt joins Guthrie from Foundation Medical Partners in Nashua, N.H. She was also a member of the Clinical Faculty at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
