Ash Wednesday services will be held on Guthrie’s Sayre Campus on Wednesday, March 6. These ten-minute services will include a prayer service, scripture and ashes. They will be led by Rev. Michael D. Hughes, Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Chaplain, at the interfaith chapel located on the third floor at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital between the “C” elevator and Sumner Lobby. Services will be held at 8:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.
Each year, the American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians (ABQAURP) asks its members to submit projects for their CHCQM Diplomate Achievement Award. Member Dr. Russ Firman, GCMC Medical Director, submitted a project that detailed GCMC’s new guidelines and policies for inpatient PICC line placement.
Guests danced the night away during Guthrie Corning Hospital’s 18th Annual Valentine’s Ball while raising money to support the Guthrie Corning Cancer Center.
The event raised nearly $60,000 for the Cancer Center at Guthrie Corning Hospital, which totals nearly $600,000 in support of Guthrie Corning Hospital in the event's 18-year history.
More than 270 guests attended this year’s ball and enjoyed an elegant evening at the Corning Museum of Glass. A heartfelt thank you to the community sponsors, board members and staff who helped make the ball a success.

Support Guthrie's Relay for Life team and celebrate cancer survivors by attending the Elmira Enforcers hockey game on Sunday, March 10. Doors open at 3 p.m. and the game starts at 4:05 p.m. Tickets are $10 with free admission for cancer survivors.

The Robert Packer Auxiliary will be sponsoring a "Books Are Fun" book fair in the Clinic Atrium in Sayre on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Friday, March 1 from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cash, credit/debit cards and postdated checks are accepted.
