The annual open enrollment for the benefit period beginning January 1, 2017 will begin in mid-November. Since this is later than has been typical in previous years, it is important to take a moment and review the upcoming changes to the Guthrie Network Advantage Plan. This will help inform benefit enrollment decisions for any non-Guthrie health plans that you or a spouse/domestic partner have available.
The annual Guthrie mandatory employee flu shot program has begun, and more than 2,500 employees have received their flu shot so far. If you have not yet obtained your annual flu shot, please click here to check the schedule of flu shot clinics to find a location and date that works for you. Egg free vaccines have now arrived and are available during all flu shot clinics.
Staff can get involved with Guthrie’s recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Pick a day to wear pink as a department or team and snap a photo with a camera or smart phone. Send in your photos to Corporate_Communications@guthrie.org on or before Oct. 25 to be included in a Facebook album and Friday Facts article featuring staff wearing pink at the end of the month. The Annual Guthrie United Way campaign began Oct..17 and will run until Nov.1. Guthrie employees are already showing their support by donating to their local United Way or other charities close to their heart. If you have donated to the United Way, come and trick or treat with us every day from Oct. 24- Oct. 28 between the hours of 11a.m. – 1 p.m. in front of the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital cafeteria and grab a treat.
Guthrie Sayre Walk-In provider Veronica Williamson, NP appeared on the Today Show this week alongside her sister Jo Ann Jantz. Jo Ann's family orchestrated a surprise appearance on the show to honor her during her battle with breast cancer. The segment features a meeting with Jo Ann’s real life super hero.
The Wound Care Centers at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital and Guthrie Corning Hospital are getting ready for Diabetes Awareness Month by educating local physicians and patients about the treatment of potential or existing chronic wounds for people also suffering from diabetes.
Guthrie will host a “Shine a Light on Lung Cancer” dinner on Thursday, Nov. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at the Best Western, 225 Spring St. in Sayre, Pa. Community members and all those affected by the disease including survivors, current patients and loved ones are invited to attend this free event.
Sayre American Legion Post 283 donated proceeds from their annual golf tournament, held July 2 at Tomasso's, to create the new Veteran Patient Assistance Fund at Guthrie. The fund assists Veterans who are current Guthrie patients, and their immediate family members, with unmet financial burdens resulting from serious or chronic medical conditions for which they are receiving care at Guthrie. Thank you to the American Legion for this generous donation.
Super User and End User Training registration is open in Guthrie Learn. Our goal is that by November 15, all Epic Super Users will be registered for training. The target date for End User Training registration is November 30. Meeting these target dates, will give managers time to assess and coordinate scheduling and backfill needs. Please discuss with your manager and register for your Super User and End User classes.
