Dr. Joseph Ronsivalle, Guthrie Chairman, Medical Imaging and Interventional Radiology, has been inducted as a Fellow in the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR). This honor, achieved by fewer than 10 percent of SIR members, goes to members who have been recognized by the society as a leading contributor in educational, investigational, organizational or professional aspects of interventional radiology. The induction took place on March 6 during SIR’s 42nd Annual Scientific Meeting in Washington D.C. Congratulations to Dr. Ronsivalle on this achievement.

Williams Auto Group presented Guthrie with a donation check from their October Breast Cancer campaign. For every vehicle sold in the month of October, Williams Auto Group made a contribution to the Breast Care Fund at Guthrie. The total amount of the donation was $1,750. The Breast Care Fund helps local breast cancer patients with their treatment costs. Thank you to Williams Auto Group for their support.

The office of Graduate Medical Education is accepting nominations for the annual Dr. Robert E. Cohen Professionalism Award for residents and fellows. The Dr. Robert E. Cohen Resident Professionalism Award will be given to a resident or fellow who exemplifies professionalism and excellence in all aspects of patient care and interactions with staff and colleagues.

The DAISY Award is a national program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. The founders of the program use the award to recognize extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people. At Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, the DAISY is awarded quarterly.

This quarter's DAISY Award winner is Thomas Reeve, RN from ICU. Tom was nominated by a patient's family member for providing exceptional care for her mother while she was a patient on that unit. Congratulations Tom!

Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital Radiology is proud to announce that MRI recently received its Breast Accreditation from the American College of Radiology for the in-house MRI suite and the Mobile MRI.  The ACR awards this accreditation to organizations for the achievement of high practice standards after an extensive peer-review evaluation of its practice.  The ACR also evaluates personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs. Congratulations to the Radiology and MRI staff for achieving this accreditation.

Quarterly Values Celebrations were recently held in Corning and Sayre to recognize accomplishments across the system and employees at each location. The celebration at Guthrie Corning Hospital honored Karena Smith of the Cancer Treatment Team with the Prism Award and recognized both the dysphagia and stroke teams for recent accomplishments.

In Sayre, the Leader of the Quarter award was presented to Nicole Osman from the lab and the Employee of the Quarter award was presented to Melody Davis, Deborah Marsden and Diana Tiller of the Pre-Admission Department.

The National Honor Societies and girls basketball teams in Sayre and Towanda teamed up to raise funds in support of the Guthrie Breast Care fund during their annual Rally for the Cure game in Dec. The event raised more than $2,800, which will be used by the Breast Care Fund to support women at risk of breast cancer that have financial hardship getting the services they need to diagnose and treat breast cancer. The check was presented by Eileen Sparduti, coach of the Sayre Lady Redskin basketball team, to Chuck Crusha, Guthrie nurse manager of medical oncology/infusion services this month.
