The 2017 Mabel Lamberson Awards Luncheon was held on Tuesday, June 6 in the Patterson Auditorium on Guthrie’s Sayre Campus. Over $20,000 was awarded this year due to the generous donation of several scholarships/trust funds and families. Nursing staff use these scholarships for furthering their education, attending conferences, or specialty certification. Congratulations to all of the winners.
In recognition of Guthrie Corning Hospital’s focus on excellence in stroke care, the facility has received the American Heart Association/American Stoke Association’s Get with the Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award. Hospitals must achieve an 85 percent or higher adherence to the Get with the Guidelines-Stroke Achievement indicators for two or more consecutive 12-month intervals and achieved 75 percent or higher compliance with six of 10 Get With the Guidelines-Stroke Quality measures, which measure quality of care.
Guthrie’s Physician Recruitment Department continues to elevate itself within the health care industry. Krisi Spagnoli, Physician Recruiter, recently achieved Fellowship certification with the Association of Staff Physician Recruiters (ASPR) and is the first in Guthrie’s history to have attained this designation. As a certified Fellow of ASPR (FASPR), an individual demonstrates to peers, employers and physicians his/her commitment to continuing education and excellence in the discipline of physician recruitment.

The DAISY Award is a national program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care given by nurses every day. The founders of the program use the award to recognize extraordinary nurses everywhere who make an enormous difference in the lives of so many people. At Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital, the DAISY is awarded quarterly.
Guthrie Corning Hospital has been named one of America’s Best Hospitals for Patient Safety by the Women’s Choice Award®. The award signifies that Guthrie Corning Hospital is in the top 15% of 3,005 U.S. hospitals for patient safety.

Since 1989, the L. Marilyn Taylor Memorial Scholarship Award has been presented annually to the second year student who most exemplifies professionalism in their practice of Respiratory Therapy. This award was created to honor the memory of Marilyn Taylor, a 1971 graduate of the Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital School of Respiratory Therapy and a respiratory therapist at the hospital for 17 years.
