Wound Care Receives Safety Star Award

Sep 02, 2016

The Safety Circle at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital worked hard this past year, along with all the employees, to maintain the hospital as an OSHA VPP Star Site.  VPP stands for Voluntary Protection Program, which is a partnership between business and OSHA. Benefits include a safer work place, reduced employee injuries, improved morale and employees involved in safety process. The Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital is only one of eight hospitals in the United States to achieve this award. This is due to all employees’ contributions in helping to sustain our status as an OSHA VPP Star Site.

In going with the theme of being a “Star Site”, the Safety Circle recognizes departments or individuals that have had either the most improved safety record or have made a difference in employee and patient safety with a Safety Star Award.  This quarter’s winner is the Wound Care Department. Over the past 13 years, this department has had only two incidents dealing with employee injuries. This is significant coming from a department that handles sharps and needles constantly. Congratulations to the team!
