Guthrie is now piloting a team-based nursing care model on select units at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital and Guthrie Corning Hospital. This model uses teams of one RN, one LPN, and one Care Partner or two RNs, depending on the unit, working together to care for a group of patients. In addition, it also utilizes the diversity of skills, education and qualification levels of the entire staff, with the goal of providing exceptional care and continuity for patients, allowing them to know their care team.
Guthrie has been creative in building a team of caregivers to provide the best experience for patients. Research shows that team nursing can improve quality, patient safety, and helps nurses feel supported.
