Volunteers and local businesses worked together this winter to treat patients and their caregivers to a hot lunch while they were at Guthrie Corning Hospital Cancer Center for treatment.
Soup for the Soul offers soup donated by local restaurants and served by volunteers each weekday at the hospital, beginning in November through the end of February. Patients and families were very appreciative of the program, especially since infusion times usually begin or end at lunchtime.
This project was led by one of Guthrie’s volunteers, Tony Maio, and has had great support from the whole team. Tony and his group of volunteers have served over 1,700 bowls of soup to Guthrie Corning Cancer patients and care givers since Nov. 1.
Thank you to Tony and the volunteers for helping to make such a positive difference in the lives of our patients!
