The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was created by Congress to assure safe and healthful working conditions for working men and women by setting and enforcing standards and by providing training, outreach, education and assistance. The Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP) recognize employers and workers in private industry and federal agencies who have implemented effective safety-and-health management systems and maintain injury and illness rates below national Bureau of Labor Statistics averages for their respective industries.
The Guthrie Medical Group, P.C. (GMG), has worked tirelessly over the past 20 years to strive for excellence in safety. GMG has applied for VPP through OSHA. VPP status is a high distinction bestowed on an employer who proactively displays the highest safety standards within an organization. Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital was awarded VPP status in 2001. The highest level of safety is paramount to a workplace that is free of injury, illness and employees that go home safe.
The application for VPP status for GMG was accepted and is now in the second phase of the process. OSHA representatives from Region III have scheduled an audit of the GMG-Sayre Campus on Jan. 14, 15 and 16, 2019. They will be looking at the overall safety of this facility. The audit may involve the inspection of policies and procedures through the various departments on the Sayre campus. Part of the audit process will involve interviewing our employees on the GMG-Sayre Campus. You may be interviewed by one of the OSHA auditors/inspectors. We have been informed by OSHA that these interviews are not meant to disrupt the day-to-day work flow.
If you are chosen to be interviewed, please be polite and courteous to the OSHA auditors. Answer all questions openly and honestly. In preparation for the interview, we have outlined a set of questions that you may be asked. Click here to view the questions.
