Guthrie Tobacco Policy Update

Oct 06, 2017

The refreshed tobacco policy has been in effect at Guthrie Corning Hospital since July 1 and across the system since Sept. 1. Thank you to all who have supported this important initiative, and who are actively working to create a healthier environment for our patients, visitors, employees and the communities we serve.

As we approach colder months, it is important to remember that employees will continue to be expected to avoid tobacco use during all paid work hours and within line of sight of any Guthrie facility. Employees who leave Guthrie property in order to use tobacco during unpaid time may need to plan additional time in order to ensure their safety. Especially if the route passes residential properties or alleys, there may not be a safe route during inclement weather.

All employees have a hand in the continued success of the refreshed tobacco policy. Please remember that it is a shared expectation for employees to approach anyone that they notice violating the policy and inform them of the tobacco use policy. If you would like a refresher on how to approach someone, check out the video below. If you would like cards with cessation resources, please contact Strategic Planning and Marketing at 570-887-4415.
