Guthrie held its 54th Annual Recognition Award Banquet on Thursday, Oct. 25 at the Best Western Grand Victorian in Sayre. Employees were recognized for their years of service, ranging from five to 45 years. 37 employees who retired or will be retiring in 2018 were also recognized.
Each year Guthrie recognizes employees with the Donald Guthrie Distinguished Employee Service Award and the Donald Guthrie Distinguished Provider Award, presented by Dr. Scopelliti. This year 54 nominations were received.
The Donald Guthrie Distinguished Employee Service Award was presented to Debra Gabriel, Procedure Coordinator in cardiology in Sayre. The Donald Guthrie Distinguished Provider Award was presented to Bruce Greene, MD, MHA, associate in orthopedic surgery in Ithaca.
Dr. Greene expressed his gratitude for the award, saying “I'd like to thank the Reward and Recognition Committee and especially my patients for this prestigious award. I am both humbled and gratified. There is no greater honor than to be recognized by one's patients. This does not happen without the support of some very important people including our front desk staff, physical therapy staff, clinical area staff including and my Physician Assistant, Sue, who has been with me for more than 23 years and my amazing wife Maria, whose example of clinical excellence, compassion and putting patients first I have tried to emulate my entire career. Thank you very much!”
Special acknowledgements were also given posthumously to Georgia Mitchell, Environmental Services; Maranatha Lougheed, MD, OB/GYN in Steuben and Robert Meneses, MD, Family Medicine in Steuben.
