Guthrie Cortland Medical Center (GCMC) recently took part in a CHEMPACK drill. CHEMPACKs are deployable containers of nerve agent antidotes. GCMC took part in the drill to experience the process of deploying the CHEMPAK from a hub location to a spoke location. In this scenario, a truck had rolled over and spilled an unknown toxic chemical. This was part two of a two-part drill involving Cortland, Cayuga and Schuyler counties.
GCMC performs drills like these in order to identify areas for improvement, in anticipation that in a real-time event we are prepared to collaborate with our local and state agencies to assist as many community members and first responders as possible.
