Guthrie Announces Affiliation with Temple Advanced Heart Failure Program
Guthrie and Temple University Hospital have announced an affiliation for advanced heart failure services and heart transplants that will provide patients living in the Twin Tiers streamlined access to Temple’s advanced heart failure specialists. This affiliation offers greater coordination and management of patients with advanced heart failure, particularly those in need of mechanical circulatory support or transplantation.
Cardiovascular care at Guthrie has a long and distinguished legacy as a leader of innovation. This history goes back more than 50 years, with pioneering open-heart surgery in 1967 at Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital. Guthrie led the first Structural Heart Program for the treatment of heart and valve defects in our region and was the first to offer patients the benefits of a hybrid operating room for heart and vascular procedures.
The Temple Heart Transplant Program is the fastest “list-to-transplant” site in the U.S., with the best 1-year survival in the region, and its advanced heart failure specialists and cardiovascular surgeons can offer the most advanced mechanical circulatory support solutions available.

Time is Running Out - Have You Taken the Culture of Safety Survey?
The annual Culture of Safety Survey is conducted each year to hear our employees’ perception of safety issues across the organization. This survey helps to identify areas where we can continue to improve the service we deliver. Suggestions made by our staff have led to major changes which continue to make Guthrie a great place to work and to receive care. If you do not work for one of the hospitals or the pharmacy, please choose the survey for Guthrie Medical Group. The survey will close on Monday, Jan. 20.
