Week of January 10, 2020

January CEO Video

In this month’s CEO Video, Dr. Joseph Scopelliti explains why employee feedback is vital to Guthrie’s Culture of Safety Survey and shares some of the improvements that have come from previous surveys.

Have You Taken the Culture of Safety Survey?

The annual Culture of Safety Survey is conducted each year to hear our employees’ perception of safety issues across the organization. This survey helps to identify areas where we can continue to improve the service we deliver. Suggestions made by our staff have led to major changes which continue to make Guthrie a great place to work and to receive care. If you do not work for one of the hospitals or the pharmacy, please choose the survey for Guthrie Medical Group. The survey will close on Monday, Jan. 20.

Guthrie Awards $10,000 to Friends of Valley Playland

Guthrie's Community Benefit Grant Program awarded $10,000 to Friends of Valley Playland in support of its project to revitalize the current playland structure on South River Street in Athens, Pa. Updates to the current playland structure will improve safety and accessibility for all children and their families in the community, including those with mobility impairments.

This grant was awarded as part of Guthrie’s Community Benefit Grant Program, which funds projects based on Guthrie’s Community Health Needs Assessment. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), requires non-profit hospitals to complete a community needs assessment (CHNA) every three years. The following areas of need were identified for 2020-2023: obesity, access to mental health providers, and cancer incidence with a focus on tobacco usage.
